My Dude, Seth, has not only been into Aquaponics for awhile (like Hydroponics but incorporates fish and it naturally cycles the fish water to grow beds in order to grow your own produce. Super sustainability!) but he’s also been getting into Aquascaping. Wikipedia explains it much better than I could,
“Aquascaping is the craft of arranging aquatic plants, as well as rocks, stones, cavework, or driftwood, in an aesthetically pleasing manner within an aquarium– in effect, gardening under water. ”
If you click on “Wikipedia” up there Wiki has some great pictures that go along with it. I hadn’t realized that it dates back as far as the Victorian era, if not further back.
Here’s a quick picture of the very beginnings of Seth converting our larger tank into an Aquascaped wonderland for our eyeballs. (I’ve had too much caffeine already). He’s taken out all the fake plants and gravel and created that cute pathway and has incorporated all LIVE plants. He’ll be adding some mossy looking sprout like plants soon and will eventually start shaping things almost like a bonsai.
It’s Amazing! I haven’t done a single thing and I get all the visual benefits. For the record, I do offer to help and am rewarded with being able to hold something occasionally and then I get the, “I HELPED!” bragging rights for half a day.
